I apologize for not being able to approve submissions lately. I don't have internet at home anymore so I can only check dA sparingly. I'll try to approve a chunk each time I get a chance but I'm letting you all know that there will be a chunk of wait time in between.
Hey guys,

I'm going on vacation next week and will be gone for a month. There won't be anyone here to approve submissions so I'm asking everyone to hold off until I get back. Thank you for your continued interest in the club! I will see you all when I get back.
If you'd like to promote your commissions, know of a struggling artist, or have some cause you need exposure for, please feel free to note the club with details and we'll do our best to help.

Our very own club member, TJThrilla, is in the process of trying to publish his manga, Double Blackness. Before he can do that, he needs your help to raise funds. If you would like to donate money or spread the word, see the link below to check out his website for further details. So let's all band together and help out a fellow member and artist!

As many old and new members may have noticed, we've been pretty quiet for a couple years, and I take full responsibility for this mismanagement. I'm a full time student who gets caught up in my schoolwork and in this week alone, I completely ignored deviantart altogether as I rushed to complete my work for the semester. But that's done with. I have a whole month before I have to go back; time in which I realize I'm not living up to my duty as a founder. When this club was created, I had such high hopes and visions of how I wanted it to be. I saw this opportunity as a way of bringing more exposure to black, white, and greyscale artwork that was continually being overshadowed by color pieces. This was supposed to be a little niche community within dA with members interacting with each other and participating in events. We would check out each other's work, get exposure to deviants we'd never have run into otherwise, learning and helping together. It just never ended up working out like that.

Now I'm trying to pass this off as me being busy with schoolwork which is only half true. The other reason is a lack of motivation. Every time I tried to bring something new and interesting to the table there would be no response. So you see, there was very little incentive to put in all the work of running a club when nothing was coming out of it. There are nearly 300 members but only about 2 strong. I'm starting to wonder if you guys even bother reading the blogs. Do you look through the new club submissions? We have a two deviation approval a day policy because we don't want to inundate your inboxes.  We want for you to feel at ease and to take your time looking through the work that other artists have put effort into. Don't just fave and run. This goes for your whole dA experience. Try this next time you find a piece you really like: stop and take the time to tell them what exactly it is you like so much about their art.  Think about the separate elements that make it so appealing whether it's their use of color, grasp of anatomy, storytelling ability, etc.  Seriously think about it, study how it works together, and I GUARANTEE it will make you a better artist. Don't use clubs as just a place to up your pageviews because you're missing the point. You get only as much as you give. You can't expect people to leave meaningful comments and fave your work if you don't do the same. This method is slow and takes a lot of work but it will get you noticed. I can attest this works when a famous artist here faved one of my pieces simply because I always took the time to critique his deviations and learn as much as I could from them.*

The point I'm trying to get at here is to be active in all that you do. If you're choosing to join this club, commit to it. Contribute something beyond just clicking submit. You can't know what can come back to you. This has been on my mind for several months now so even though it seems practically futile, I still want to kickstart this club again. We've been inactive for awhile and yet new members are still coming in. There's still potential here. I guess I'm just too much of an optimist to give up.

If you've made it this far, thank you for putting up with my ranting. In all seriousness though, expect updates soon as we try to get another supergroup upgrade. We are also looking for a new moderator to give us a little extra help. You must be able to check up weekly and have good interpersonal skills when dealing with others. The work will be simple as of right now such as approving submissions but responsibilities can (and most likely will) grow over time. If you are interested in this position, please note the group with reasons why you think you would be good for this position and how you can help improve the group in the future.

*If you would like for me to critique your work, please feel free to note my personal account with a link to your deviation.

List of Black and Whites!

Hello, Hello!

As we all know this group is all about creating, appreciating, and flat-out loving beautiful grayscale and black and white art. So I thought how about a little list or guide about all the black and white art here on DeviantArt and everywhere else on this little green planet.

If you know any other Deviants, Links or Downloads just note me Bappie and I'll put it in the next upload.
